Science & Engineering Services Awarded Wide-Spectrum Bio-ID Contract PDF Print E-mail

On 19 September 2006, SESI was awarded a $4.0M contract by the US Army RDECOM Acquisition Center under the Joint PEO for Chemical and Biological Defense.

The award is for Phase II development of Wide-Spectrum Bio-ID, a broadband approach for rapid detection and identification of biological agents through integration of proteomics, atmospheric pressure (AP) matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), and bio-informatics. Key partners include University of Maryland at College Park, Signature Science, and SAIC-EAI.

 
MassTech Signs Agreement With Agilent Technologies PDF Print E-mail

MassTech Inc., a provider of AP-MALDI technology for mass spectrometry, and Agilent Technologies today announced that it has signed an agreement to distribute AP/MALDI and AP/MALDI-PDF ion sources. MassTech Introduces Atmospheric Pressure MALDI Source (AP/MALDI) for Thermo Finnigan™ LTQ™ and LTQ FT™ Mass Spectrometers PDF Print E-mail

MassTech Inc., a provider of AP-MALDI technology for mass spectrometry, today announced the availability of AP/MALDI-PDF ion sources for Thermo Finnigan's linear ion trap (Finnigan™ LTQ™) and hybrid LIT (Finnigan™ LTQ FT™) mass spectrometers. The AP/MALDI-PDF ion source can be switched with electrospray in just minutes. The AP/MALDI-PDF is designed for tool-less, rapid attachment to the LTQ without the need to break vacuum. The larger square source housing accommodates ABI sample plates, and integrates pulsed dynamic focusing (PDF) technology which is used to increase sensitivity and reliability of the system. MassTech Signs Co-Marketing Agreement With Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX PDF Print E-mail

MassTech Inc., a provider of AP-MALDI technology for mass spectrometry, and Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX, a joint-venture between Applied Biosystems Group (NYSE: ABI) an Applera Corporation Business, and MDS Inc. (TSE:MDS; NYSE: MDZ), today announced that it has signed an agreement to market the MassTech AP/MALDI system as a front end ion source for the AB/MDS SCIEX 4000 Q TRAP® LC/MS/MS. The collaboration brings MALDI capabilities to the 4000 Q TRAP® LC/MS/MS platform to facilitate metabolite identification and post-translational modification identification.

Under the agreement, the two companies will co-market the AP/MALDI product for the 4000 Q TRAP® LC/MS/MS product line. MassTech will provide sales, installation, support and service for its AP/MALDI systems. MassTech To Develop an Atmospheric Pressure MALDI Source (AP/MALDI) for the 4000 Q TRAP® LC/MS/MS system of Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX PDF Print E-mail

MassTech Inc., a provider of AP-MALDI technology for mass spectrometry today announced that it will develop an Atmospheric Pressure Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization (AP/MALDI) ion source for the 4000 Q TRAP® LC/MS/MS System with the assistance of Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX. Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX, the manufacturer of the 4000 Q TRAP® system, is a joint venture between Applied Biosystems Group (NYSE:ABI), an Applera Corporation business, and MDS Inc. (TSE:MDS; NYSE:MDZ). The 4000 Q TRAP® system is used during most stages of drug discovery and development to identify and quantify peptides, proteins, and small molecules in biological samples.

The combination of AP/MALDI with the 4000 Q TRAP® system should allow scientists to acquire MS/MS data from ions generated by MALDI thus increasing the versatility of the 4000 Q TRAP® instrument. In addition, the users may benefit from Pulsed Dynamic Focusing (PDF), a patented technology from MassTech, Inc. that significantly improves AP/MALDI sensitivity. Since AP/MALDI takes place at atmospheric pressure, sample plates are loaded without breaking vacuum - simplifying operation and greatly increasing sample throughput. The AP/MALDI source will support the standard Applied Biosystems 100-spot plate format and the MassTech proprietary 96-spot plate format, both providing compatibility with robotic systems used for sample deposition.
